Privacy Policy

The Handheld Herald collects as little as a website can while still being a website. There are no accounts, no newsletter list, no advertising and no analytics. This page sets out exactly what that means.

What this site does not do

• It does not ask you to register, log in, or give a name or email to read anything.
• It does not run advertising or affiliate tracking.
• It does not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or any comparable third-party analytics.
• It does not embed social widgets, comment systems or trackers.
• It does not set advertising or analytics cookies — see the cookie policy.
• It does not sell, rent or share personal data, because it does not collect any to share.

Server logs

The web server that delivers these pages keeps standard access logs: the address requested, the date and time, the browser's user-agent string, and the IP address the request came from. This is ordinary web-server behaviour and is used to keep the site online and secure. These records are not used to build a profile of you, are not linked to any identity, and are not passed to advertisers. They are retained only as long as needed for security and routine maintenance.

Email you send

If you email the address on the contact page, your message and address sit in an ordinary mailbox so a reply can be sent and, where relevant, a correction can be made. Correspondence is not added to any mailing list, is not used for marketing, and is not shared. If you would like your message deleted, ask and it will be.

Who else is involved

Delivering any website requires a couple of service providers, who process technical data on the site's behalf:

• A web host, which stores the site's files and serves them to your browser.
• A content delivery and security network, which sits in front of the site to serve it quickly and protect it from attacks.
• An email provider, which handles messages sent to the contact address.

These providers see technical information such as IP addresses as an unavoidable part of delivering the service. They are not given permission to use it for advertising.

Children

This is a general-audience site about mainstream games. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included, because it does not collect personal information at all.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you. Since the only personal data here is email you have chosen to send, exercising those rights is straightforward: write to the contact address and say what you want done.

External links

Editions link to game developers' own sites and app stores. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and the Herald has no control over and takes no responsibility for how they handle your data.

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date below.
